In this brief tutorial you will be introduced to the OptiMax 2000 Component Library. This tutorial is intended to demonstrate how to use the OptiMax library to read and solve MPL models from applications such as MS Excel. There is a separate MPL On-line Tutorial available that covers the MPL Modeling Language and how to formulate models.
(Note: MPL and OptiMax 2000 must be installed on your PC before beginning this tutorial)
This tutorial contains the following sessions:
Session 1: Creating your first OptiMax 2000 Program in Excel Visual Basic
Session 1 shows you how to enter a simple Visual Basic program in Excel using the built-in Visual Basic Editor that will read in and solve an existing MPL model. The solution is then displayed in a message box.
Session 2: Export Vector Solution Values to the Excel Spreadsheet
In Session 2, you will add to the Visual Basic program code that will output the solution into a range in the Excel spreadsheet that enables you to view the solution in the spreadsheet. At this point the user can create visual aids such as graphs or tables in order to analyze the solution..
