Maximal Software is currently making available for download the student/trial versions of both MPL and OptiMax, with CPLEX, GUROBI, CoinMP, CONOPT, and LGO solvers free of charge. The student/trial versions are limited size (300 constraints/variables) and work for a specific period, but otherwise fully functional versions of the software. This allows users to install the software on their own personal computer and evaluate it for use in optimization modeling projects.
Contact Maximal Software to receive the activation code for the software. You can either fill out the:
Request for Activation Code Form
or send email to:
giving your name, and address along with other relevant information.
Select which file for MPL or OptiMax you want and then click on the name of the file to download it. Please note that before you can install OptiMax, you need first to download and install first the MPL for Windows student version. If you are asked whether you want to save the file, choose to save it to your hard-disk. Please note the location, where you are saving it, since you are going to need it in Step 3.
If you are installing on a machine with 64-bit Windows (or if you get any error message mentioning 16-bit application error during the install), please choose the Mplwin42Student.msi setup file instead.
| MPL for Windows 4.2 (Windows): | Mplwin42Student.exe (7.5Mb) (download with FTP) Mplwin42Student.zip (7.3Mb) (download with HTTP) Mplwin42Student.msi (10.5Mb) (HTTP) |
| OptiMax (First-time install): | OptiMaxStudent.exe (3.2Mb) OptiMaxStudent.zip (3.1Mb)> |
| OptiMax (Update previous): | OptiMaxStudentUpdate.exe (2.4Mb) OptiMaxStudentUpdate.zip (2.3Mb) |
After you downloaded the Mplwin42Student.exe (or .msi) file, start the installation by double-clicking on the file from where you saved it in Step 2. If you downloaded the zip file Mplwin42Student.zip instead, use compression tool such as WinZip to uncompress the file to a directory on your hard disk. Then start the installation by running theSetup.exe from the hard disk directory where you uncompressed the zip file.
After you have installed MPL for Windows, you can start the installation for OptiMax by double-clicking either on the OptiMaxStudent.exe or the OptiMaxStudentUpdate.exe file you saved in Step 2, or if you downloaded either OptiMaxStudent.zip or OptiMaxStudentUpdate.zip, unzip the corresponding zip file and then run Setup.exe.
