Maximal Software is currently making available for download the student/trial versions
of both MPL with CPLEX and OptiMax 2000 free of
charge. The student/trial versions are limited size (300 constraints/variables, 100
integer), but otherwise fully functional versions of the software. This allows users to
install the software on their own personal computer and evaluate it for use in
optimization modeling projects.
Installation Instructions:
- Step 1. Request Activation Code
- Contact Maximal Software to receive the activation code for the software. You can either
fill out the:
Request for Activation Code Form (preferrable)
or send email to:
download@maximalsoftware.com
giving your name, and address along with other relevant information.
- Step 2. Download the Software
-
Select which file for MPL or OptiMax 2000 you want and then click on the
name of the file to download it. Please note that before you can install OptiMax 2000,
you need first to download and install first the MPL for Windows student version.
If you are asked whether you want to save the file, choose to save it to your hard-disk.
Please note the location, where you are saving it, since you are going to need it in
Step 3.
-
Step 3. Install the Software
- MPL for Windows 4.2:
After you downloaded the Mplwin42Student.exe file, start the installation by double-clicking on
the file from where you saved it in Step 2. If you downloaded the zip file Mplwin42Student.zip
instead, use any of the tools such as Pkunzip.exe
or WinZip to uncompress the file to a directory on
your hard disk. Then start the installation by running the Setup.exe from the hard
disk directory where you uncompressed the zip file.
- OptiMax 2000 Component Library:
After you have installed MPL for Windows you can start the installation for OptiMax
2000 by double-clicking either on the OptiMaxStudent.exe or the OptiMaxStudentUpdate.exe
file you saved in Step 2, or if you downloaded either OptiMaxStudent.zip or
OptiMaxStudentUpdate.zip, unzip the corresponding zip file and then run Setup.exe.
-
Step 4. Activating the MPL student license
- Before you can use MPL, you need to receive and install the MPL student license activation code
that you requested in Step 1. The instructions on how to install the license, which
is issued exclusively for MPL, are included in the email that we will send back to
you. If you do not receive an email within 1-2 business days (most are sent within 24
hours), please check with us to see if we did receive the activation code request.
If you have any problems with either downloading or installing MPL/CPLEX and OptiMax
2000, please check the Technical Support (FAQ) page that
